Meet Dr. Michael Webb
Michael Webb, DDS, MS, PA
Personal Statement
I wanted to become a dentist since I was 12 years old. I was very fortunate to have a dear family friend, Dr. Robert Morrison, to be my mentor for many years. Like many of you, I had braces as a teenager with the large silver bands wrapped around every tooth (thank goodness for modern technology). I did not decide to become an orthodontist until my third year in dental school. I am very proud to practice orthodontics, a profession where we can have a large impact on a person’s life in a positive way. Even after 30 years in practice I still look forward to coming to the office and seeing the many patients. Each patient has their own different personality and set of orthodontic challenges.
Education and Experience
I am a native of eastern North Carolina and my wife, Patti, a native Charlottean. I completed my BA degree in chemistry from UNC-Chapel Hill in 1975 and graduated from UNC School of Dentistry in 1979 where I received my degree in Doctor of Dental Surgery. I then went on to St. Louis University Medical Center, where I completed my residency and post doctoral Masters Degree in Orthodontics in 1981. Patti graduated from UNC Chapel Hill in 1978 and is a retired dental hygienist. I have been practicing in Charlotte since 1981.
I am a member of the American Association of Orthodontists, the American Dental Association, North Carolina Association of Orthodontists, the North Carolina Dental Society, and the Charlotte Dental Society. I am a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics and was inducted as a Fellow of the International College of Dentists on October 8, 2010. I have given lectures nationally to orthodontic residents on diagnosis and treatment planning. I have served on the Board at Providence Day School for six years where I received the Founders Award for Outstanding Leadership in 1998. I am currently president of the UNC School of Dentistry Alumni Board and am also a member of the North Carolina Dental Foundation Board and the UNC General Alumni Association Board. I have been included in “topDENTISTS” from 2007 through 2011, which has been published in Charlotte Magazine.
Continuing education is a vital part of being able to continue to practice great orthodontics. I attend several annual symposiums and meetings, such as the Orthodontic Education and Research Foundation Symposium, the Angle East Meeting, and the American Association of Orthodontist meetings. My attendance provides me with the latest research and technology available to best treat my patients with confidence.
My Team
You will find the Webb Orthodontics team organized and efficient, as well as knowledgeable and fun. It is common for our staff to have been here 5 plus years & we enjoy taking the time to connect with our patients by getting to know them & their families.
In the Community
I have sponsored many community activities in the Charlotte and surrounding areas, such as church activities and mission trips, school sports teams, and area and recreational teams. I participate in the NC Missions of Mercy Dental Clinic. Missions of Mercy offers free dental services throughout the state and is staffed by volunteer dentists across North Carolina. I also make financial contributions to many charities. I have done this for the last 30 years as I feel it is important to give back to the community.
Outside the Office
Patti and I have been married since 1976 and we have three children. Taylor is a 2005 graduate of the University of Southern California, a 2011 graduate of Charleston School of Law and plans to get her Masters in Healthcare Administration. Colin graduated from UNC-Chapel Hill in 2007 and the University of Maryland, School of Dentistry in 2011. He is currently doing his residency in orthodontics and plans to join my practice in December 2013. Logan graduated from Wake Forest University in 2008. She has completed her fourth year of dental school and will be starting her residency in pediatric dentistry at the Medical University of South Carolina in July. Patti is active in local organizations and is currently working with St. Jude Hospital and King’s Kitchen. She enjoys playing tennis in her spare time. When I am not working, I enjoy deep-sea fishing, golf, and snow skiing.
